Joseph Paul Dahdah

WILBRAHAM – Joseph Paul Dahdah, 88, a longtime resident of Wilbraham, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his great-niece, Paula, his wonderful caregivers and his comrades-at-arms. He was born in Springfield on January 3, 1929, a beloved son of the late Michael R. Dahdah and Catherine (Sahadie) Dahdah. He was raised on Cass Street in the Liberty Heights section of Springfield, graduated from Classical High School and lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Wilbraham. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal. Following his military service, he returned to Springfield and was employed as a Principal Storekeeper for the City of Springfield Department of Public Works. Active in his Catholic faith, Joe was a lifelong communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield where he made many dear friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his seven loving brothers and sisters, Ralph Dahdah and John Dahdah, Genevieve Demers, Josephine Joulwan, Victoria Mowad, Mary Hassin and Nora T. Dahdah Blaisdell; and his loving nephew, Paul Joseph Joulwan. He leaves his devoted and loving great-niece and caregiver, Paula Joulwan Keating and her husband, W. Harold Keating, of Pottsville, PA; and his nieces, Catherine Blaisdell Rogers of Fayetteville, NC and Dolores Mazzuca of Pottsville, PA; and his special cousin, Joseph W. Dahdah of West Springfield. Joe also leaves several other great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Dahdah, Sahadie, Joulwan, Demers, Mowad, Hassin and Blaisdell families. His great-niece, Paula, would like to extend her thanks to the staff at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke who provided such wonderful care to her uncle Joe and the staff at Hospice Life Care in Holyoke for their compassionate care and assistance. His funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. His burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118.
