Obituary

Marilyn Tamboe, resident of Boynton beach, FL and seasonal resident of Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully and in the loving arms of her family on Tuesday, July 11, 2017.

Born on October 5, 1932 to James Philbin and Annie Frances O'Quinn-Philbin, Marilyn lived in Providence with her parents and older sister, Ann Marie (Flodin). In 1955, she married Providence firefighter James Tamboe and they had five children; Robert, Kathleen, Maureen, Kenneth, and Ellen. The family built a home and moved to Hope, RI, in 1972, where they lived until all the children were grown. The beloved house remains in the family and serves as a wonderful reminder to future generations of its joyous and memorable past with Marilyn as its matriarch.

In 1993, Jim and Marilyn joined their son Kenny in Boynton Beach, FL, to begin seasonal living. There, they enjoyed Florida life, often visiting the beach, cruising and traveling, and bingo nights and entertainment at their clubhouse. Although they would return to Rhode Island each summer to visit with family and escape the heat, Florida became a more permanent residence as the years progressed.

Marilyn's absolute pride and joy stemmed from her family. Daughter Maureen married Bobby Tobin in 1982 and had a daughter, Stephanie. Kathleen married Paul Krikorian in 1985. First born Bobby married Nora Santamour-Tamboe in 1990 and they had daughters Nellie and Anaclaire. Ken married Emilie Schaller-Tamboe in 2005 and had daughters Isabelle and Sophie. Daughter Ellen married Dan Rasmusson in 2010 and they had daughter Olivia. Marilyn is survived by her husband, her sister, all her children and their spouses, all her grandchildren, as well as her great grand children, Jackson and Leah, belonging to granddaughter Stephanie and her husband Justin Deveau.

Marilyn Tamboe will not only be missed beyond measure, but will be remembered for the multitude of positive influences and good deeds she did for all with whom she came in contact. She had a remarkable way of instigating effortless conversation with anyone around her, as well as taking strides to provide comfort to all in any social situation. She measured people's worth by their integrity and their compassion, always being fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Her presence always commanded attention and her smile was both infectious and brilliant. She was straight forward and sincere, leaving no room for misinterpretation as to how she felt. Marilyn was extremely devout, knowing absolutely that her faith in God and Heaven would pave the way for her, as well as for her family. She leaves us after living the fullest, richest, most beautiful, and most blessed life of anyone known to us. That is quite a beautiful comfort during this time of grieving.

A Celebration of Life mass will be held at St. Peter and Paul church, 48 Highland St, West Warwick, RI 02893 at 11 am Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
