Florence Josephine Turbitt, 95, died July 8, 2017. She was the beloved wife of James Whitney Turbitt. They had been married for seventy-four years.
Born in Smithfield, RI, she was a daughter of the late George and Josephine (Bouchard) McDonald. She worked in administrative services for many years. Florence had made her home in North Providence for sixty years, having previously lived in Washington D.C. An avid golfer, she had been a member of Wannamoisett Country Club for fifty years. She also enjoyed bridge and duckpin bowling.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Patricia A. Fecteau of Seekonk, Massachusetts, Monica M Dansereau of Johnston, RI and James W Turbitt, Jr; spouse Justine Turbitt of Johnston, RI as well as seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her siblings, Joseph G McDonald, Theresa D Grist, George T McDonald and Evelyn T. McDonald.
Florence requested upon her passing that her remains be cremated without wake and funeral. Those requests are being honored. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael's Church in Smithfield, RI.
