Florence Marie Dammer
7/1/2017

Florence Marie Dammer, wife of Harry R. Dammer, Jr., passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in Scranton, PA.

Florence was born on October 14, 1930, in Jersey City, NJ, the youngest child of Edward M. and Viola (Niehaus) Smith. She and Harry were married in 1954, lived in Ridgefield, NJ, and retired to Blairstown, NJ in 2000.

Florence loved to travel, especially with her friend Barbara. She was always eager to visit her children, grandchildren and friends in Europe and throughout the United States. She loved the Yankees, the NY Giants, Frank Sinatra, Broadway shows, and her favorite show Bluebloods. She loved a good party, a good restaurant and an occasional Pinot Grigio. Not one to labor in the kitchen, Flo often said “the best thing I make is reservations.”

Flo was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. Her family and friends always knew how much she loved them and her generosity was known by all.

Florence is survived by her husband, her daughter Patricia Schneider (husband-Gregg), her son Harry R. Dammer, III (wife-Eileen), grandchildren Matthew Schneider (wife- Erin), Christopher Schneider, Katherine Dammer, and Allison Dammer, and great-grandson Cooper Schneider. She is also survived by her sister Doris (Smith) Falconer. Florence loved her sister dearly, as well as her nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Florence was pre-deceased by her parents, her brothers Edward W. Smith, Thomas F.X. Smith, and brother-in-law Thomas Falconer.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 8th at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Ridgefield, NJ, from 10:30 to Noon with a Memorial Mass to follow. Private interment to be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local ambulance or fire department. Next time you are out to dinner or at a party, please raise a glass of wine (preferably white) to Florence, she will be smiling down on you. Arrangements entrusted to the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home, Olyphant, Pa. Please visit www.glinskyfuneralhome.com for more information
