Edward J. Campbell, Jr., age 85, formerly of Duxbury and Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Wingate at Needham. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene M. (Campbell) Campbell who died in 1979.
Born in Norwood, MA on March 19, 1932, he was a loving son of the late Edward J., Sr. and Rose G. (O’Brien) Campbell.
Ed grew up in Norwood and was a graduate of Norwood High School. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following three years of duty, he was honorably discharged on September 17, 1955 with the rank of Corporal.
Mr. Campbell worked as a comptroller for several local automobile dealerships prior to retiring.
Ed loved spending time with his adoring family. He was a member of the Notre Dame Club and a fifty-year member of AA. He enjoyed listening to jazz music and attending clubs that featured live bands. His other interests included going to the beach, his favorite place of destination being Duxbury Beach.
He is survived by his devoted children Edward J. “Ted” Campbell. III and his wife Jessica of California and Donna Rose Bruno and her husband Jamie of West Roxbury. He was the dear brother of the late Sister Rosemary Campbell, Margaret E. “Peggy” Foti, Catherine “Kay” Adelmann, Mildred “Millie” Karshis and James W. “Jimmy” Campbell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend graveside services with military honors on Saturday, August 19th at 10:30 A.M.at the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Plain St. in Norton.
There will be no funeral home visiting hours.
