Catherine M. “Kay” (Bedard) Barry age 88 of Brockton died Wednesday June 21, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Barry. Kay was born in Cambridge and raised in Foxboro a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Fitzgerald) Bedard. She had been a resident of Brockton for over 60 years and previously lived in Stoughton.
A graduate of Foxboro High School, Kay was a home maker who stayed home to raise her large family. In her free time she enjoyed arts and craft in different mediums, playing bingo, caring for her fish aquarium and taking long rides with her family with an ice cream along the way.
According to “her boys” Kay was a “tough old bird” who enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Kay was the mother of Mary Ellen Enos and her husband Paul of Ocala, Florida; Robert J. Barry and his wife Marybeth of Brockton, Joseph F. Barry and his wife Cynthia of Brockton, Thomas E. Barry and his wife Susan of Foxboro, John Barry and his wife Debra of Brockton and William Barry and his wife Nancy of East Bridgewater. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. She was this sister of the late Joseph, Francis, Adelard and Raymond Bedard.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Sunday 2-5pm. A procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 8:45 am for a funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10am. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
