Peter G. “Taki” Koleas, age 79, passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Monday. Born and raised in Mitilini, Greece he was the son of George and Katerina Koleas. He came to the United States in 1968 and settled in Medford. He was a restaurateur and eventually started his own business, Demet’s Donuts on Mystic Avenue in Medford which he operated with his wife and son for nearly 35 years. His doughnuts consistently won critical acclaim in local and regional media. A hardworking and generous man, Peter had a heart of gold. He was devoted to his family and loved spending time with his relatives and many friends.

The beloved husband of Effie (Vouros), he was a devoted father to George Koleas and his wife Maria of Stoneham. He was a loving grandfather to Effi and Tina as well as a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews here in the US and in Greece.

His funeral will be from Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, June 23 at 12:30 PM followed by a funeral service in St. Athanasius the Great Greek Orthodox Church, 4 Appleton St., Arlington at 1:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with entombment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Visiting Hours, Thursday 4 – 8 PM.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be sent in Peter's name to St. Athanasius Greek Orthodox Church, Appleton St., Arlington, MA 02476.
