Guido Santoro, of Medford, passed away suddenly, at his home, on Monday, June 19th. He was 86.

Born in Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Ignazio and Anna (Finocchi) Santoro.

Guido was a union laborer and a proud member of Local 22. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. For the last twenty years, he and his friends made a nightly visit to the Meadow Glenn Mall for coffee and conversation. When the mall was closed, they moved their meeting place to the Dunkin’ Donuts at Wellington Circle. Guido also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and making homemade wine and prosciutto, to share with others. He was an owner of a Ford F150, for which he loved. Throughout his life, he had a total of five F150’s and the Red pick-up, which he kept for eighteen years, was his favorite.

Guido was the beloved husband of Maria (Valeri) Santoro, with whom he shared many loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Ignazio Santoro and his wife Denise of North Reading, Antonio Santoro and his wife Amy of Boxborough. Guido was the loving grandfather of Jonathan and Jason Santoro, both of N. Reading, Joanna, Justin and Ella Santoro, all of Boxborough. He was the dear brother of Vera Silvestre and her late husband Emidio of Wethersfield, CT, Bruno Santoro and his wife Elaine of New Hartford, CT. Guido was preceded in death by his siblings, twin brother, Gabriele Santoro and his surviving wife Antoniette of Torrington, CT, Maria Scalora and her husband Gaspare, Agatha Zaino and her husband Jack and Lidia D’Amato.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford on Saturday, June 24th at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
