Casamira (Hernandez) Arroyo

SPRINGFIELD - Casimira (Hernandez) Arroyo, 97, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, June 18, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico on May 4, 1920, a beloved daughter of the late Sergio and Maria (Agosto) Hernandez. She attended schools into Corozal and moved to New York City in 1955 where she lived until moving to Springfield in 1972. She loved cooking for her family and enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Emilio Arroyo Resto, Sr. on August 23, 1993; her loving son, Jose Luis Arroyo on May 20, 2017; her cherished grandson, Wallie Hawkins; and her 14 dear brothers and sisters. She leaves her eight loving daughters, Emilia Arroyo, Maria J. Arroyo, and Margarita Nieves and her husband, Eusebio, all of Springfield, Mariana Arroyo of Clyde, NC, Lucy M. Bernadino and her husband, Arturo, of Land O'Lakes, FL, Elfrida Venage and her husband, Manny, of Springfield, Maria N. Arroyo of New York, NY and Afortunada Arroyo of Dudley, MA; her loving son, Retired Springfield Police Officer Emilio Arroyo, II and his wife, Maribel, of Westfield, MA; her cherished 26 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Arroyo and Hernandez families. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
