Kathryn A. Boyle, 86, formerly of Elmhurst Drive, Greenville, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Cortland Place in Greenville, with family members by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. John K. Boyle, former Superintendent of Smithfield Schools. High school sweethearts, they had been married for 56 years before his death in December 2007.
Born in Worcester, MA, “Kay” was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (McQuiston) Riedl of Worcester and Eastham, MA, and is survived by a brother, Robert E. Riedl of Florida. A 1951 graduate of Green Mountain College, she worked in the insurance industry before accepting her most important role as a wife, mother, and homemaker.
She is survived by her five children, Kevin Boyle of Concord, MA, Thomas E. “Tim” Boyle, II of Cranston, RI, Michael J. Boyle and his wife, Mary, of Smithfield, RI, Elizabeth Boyle Eckel and her husband, Jonathan, of Westerly, and Susan E. Wild and her husband, Robert, of Smithfield, as well as her grandchildren, Joseph, Bartholomew, Patrick, Scott, Michael, John, and Nicole Boyle; Brittany DeLuca, Jonathan D. Eckel, Jr, and Brett, Cody and Kasey Wild, and her great grandchildren, Merida Boyle, Olivia and Salvatore DeLuca, and Kali Totten.
Her husband was the true “love of her life” and her children and family were her pride and joy. She will be remembered by family and friends as a dedicated “Elvis” fan, an avid swimmer, and a savvy shopper with a keen sense of fashion and style. Her bright smile and gentle touch will be missed by all who loved her.
Her family recently held a private service to celebrate her life and buried her alongside her husband at St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA.
