Joseph L. Pecora, 100 years of age and a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully, May 30, 2017, at the Winchester Hospital following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Alice L. (Sena) Pecora. Born in Woburn he was one of seven children of the late Morest and Antoinette (Meluso) Pecora.

Joseph was a 1935 graduate of Woburn High School. He was a proud U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of WWII. He served with the 488th Bombardment Squadron and participated in battles and combat in Italy, Southern France and the Balkans. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge with Oak Leaf Clusters and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.

Joseph worked for many years as a self employed contractor prior to his retirement. He was a faith filled parishioner of St. Charles Church where he served as Head Usher for many years. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Woburn Country Club. He also enjoyed bowling and participated in several local bowling leagues over the years. Always wanting to serve others, Joseph volunteered for over 30 years delivering meals on wheels to people in need. He was a member of the Woburn Lodge of Elks, American Legion post 101, Knights of Columbus, Council 77 for over seventy years, and the St. Francis Retreat Guild. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his late wife and parents, Joseph is sadly predeceased by his sisters, Mary Costello and Florence Pecora, brothers; Angelo, Louis and John Pecora, and his longtime companion Agnes Marderosian

He is survived by his brother, Thomas Pecora of Woburn and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, June 5th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday from 3 thru 6 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Joseph's memory to St. Charles Church at the address above.
