Caroline (Pelosi) Sylvia, of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29th at the Glen Ridge Nursing Center in Medford. She was 93.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Jenny (Maniglia) Pelosi, and attended local schools.

A homemaker, she loved and cared for her family more than anything else. Caroline was also an entrepreneur. She was the proud owner of Kari-Kone, an old-time ice-cream shop in the North End. Later in life, Caroline was a Nanny for over ten years for three children whom she loved very much. They called her Auntie Carrie.

In her spare time, Caroline enjoyed drinking hot coffee, black, and no sugar. She was also a lifelong ballroom dancer and enjoyed dancing at the Wonderland Ballroom in Revere. Every week Caroline and her sister Helen would spend time at the Nazzaro Center in the North End. Caroline enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods and playing ‘her numbers’ in the lottery.

Caroline was the devoted mother of the late Karen A. Ciccia and her surviving husband Salvatore “Sonny” Ciccia of Medford. She was the loving grandmother of Jason Ciccia, Dana Ciccia and his wife Keri, Jennifer Bruno and her husband Chris, all of Medford. The loving great grandmother of Marco, Sienna, Torre and Grace Ciccia, and Nina Bruno, she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Caroline was preceded in death by her siblings Tony and Joe Pelosi, Julia Strabone and Helen Matarazzo.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Friday, June 2nd from 9 through 11AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11:30AM. Services will conclude with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
