WAYLAND: Nancy Ann (Rowling) Dietrich passed away peacefully on the morning of her 87th birthday surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on May 24, 1930 the daughter of the late Homer Joseph Rowling and Herbie Mae (Olson) Rowling.
She was the beloved wife for 55 years of the late Robert G. Dietrich who died on March 25, 2007.
Nancy was the loving mother of Martha Thompson of Holliston; Melinda Mullin Sweeney and her husband Gary Sweeney of Marlborough; April Clouse and her husband Bob Clouse of Holliston; Greg Dietrich and his fiancé Lisa Beddie of Hilton Head, South Carolina and the late Nelson G. Dietrich who died on May 18, 1987. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Janice Jenkins.
Nancy has been a resident of Wayland for over 65 years. She spent her formative years in Wellesley and was a graduate of Wellesley High School with the Class of 1948. She received her A.S. in Child Development from Centenary Junior College in Hackettstown, NJ. After her college graduation, she became a model with the Ford Agency in New York for several years. Nancy was the proprietor and founder of The Toy Box in Wayland, a shop she maintained for a few years. In her earlier years, she volunteered as a Classroom Assistant at the Loker School in Wayland, was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for her daughters and spent 51 years as a Sunday School Teacher at the Community United Methodist Church where she was an active member.
She loved to spend time gardening at her Wayland home, watching the birds in her yard and enjoyed knitting. Nancy also spent several years associated in retail with Riverview Acres in Wayland.
She was greatly loved by her family and friends and will be fondly remembered as a wonderful woman who always gave of herself.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon Street (Corner of Rte. 27 and Damon St.), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Nancy’s memory may be sent to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
