Obituary

RODIS, Eve (Karafotis) 92 years young of Needham and Cape Cod, MA, beloved beautiful wife of the late Nicholas Rodis for 63 loving years, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Tuesday, May 23, 2017.

Devoted and always loving mother of Chris N. Rodis and partner Ethel of Acton, Peter N. Rodis and wife Karen of Framingham, and Kristine (Kris) Cauti and husband Doug of Needham. Adoring and loved grandmother (Yiayia) of 5 wonderful grandchildren and 4 amazing great-grandchildren, Adam, Kristen, Brianna and Alexis Rodis, Tim, Danielle, Nicholas and Madeline Rodis, Kevin Rodis, Mary-Katherine Rodis, and Nichole Cauti. Step-grandmother of Brian and Kimberly Cauti. Loving sister of Sophie Chiotelas and the late Christopher Karafotis, Georgia Chekos, and Mary Dadasis. Devoted and loving aunt of 9 nieces and nephews, over 25 cousins and devoted friend to many around the world.

Born in Manchester, NH in 1924, the daughter of the Late Peter and Penelope (Papadopoulos) Karafotis. Graduate of Kathleen Dell of Boston, married in 1949 Harvard graduate - star athlete " her Nick", lived in CT, MD, VA, DC, and MA over the years. Through The World University Games - FISU Eve and Nick traveled the world together to help young athletes represent the USA in these proclaimed worldwide Olympic Committee affiliated summer and winter sporting competitions. They had a wonderful life!

In her youth, Eve was an active athlete herself, oil painter and talented singing and mandolin performer as well - she adored skiing, horseback riding and synchronized swimming. She performed singing duets with her eldest sister Georgia in Hampton Beach, NH.

Eve was the matriarch of a large and loving family with Nick. Always inspiring and enthusiastic sharing her wisdom and guidance. She was an independent thinker a real  "go getter" with a zest for life like none before her. A deeply religious woman who taught her family the meaning of God and Faith , she will surely will reside in the the House of the Lord forever with her beloved Nick and late family and friends.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Friday, May 26 at 9am followed by a Funeral Service in St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral Home Thursday, May 25 from 4-7pm. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Eve’s memory to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church 57 Brown St. Weston, MA 02493.
