“Specialist” Jordan Arthur Lewis of Nashua, NH, died at his home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was 30 years old. His faithful companion, Logan, an 8-year old German Shepard, died in his sleep the following morning. Jordan was born December 4, 1986, in Nashua to Barry Paul Lewis, Sr. and Susan Jean Rogers (Lewis) Baynes. Jordan grew up in Londonderry, NH, and resided in Blacksburg, VA, Washington State and Sacramento, CA, before returning to New Hampshire and residing in Nashua. He was married for 7 years to Amber Coury, until their divorce in 2014. Jordan’s dog Logan was born on April 11, 2009, in Washington state and was adopted by Jordan shortly after.
Jordan attended high school at Tabernacle Christian School in Litchfield, NH and completed his senior year at Londonderry High School and graduated in 2005. He attended Virginia Tech during 2005 and 2006, before enlisting in the US Army in 2007. Jordan served in the 593rd Sustainment Brigade out of Ft. Lewis, Washington and he served in Iraq in 2008 during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jordan left active duty in 2010 as an E-4 Specialist and served during 2010 and 2011 in the Army Reserve 319th Signal Battalion out of Sacramento, CA, as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. Jordan also held other positions including forklift operator, chaplain’s aid and mail clerk. He also attended American River College in Sacramento between 2011 and 2012.
Jordan is survived by his father, Barry Paul Lewis, Sr. of Parrish, FL., his mother and step father, Susan Jean (Rogers) Baynes and Richard ”Dick” Graham Baynes of Londonderry, his sister Eliza Lewis and brother Barry Lewis, Jr., both of Londonderry, his identical twin brother and his wife, Jonathan and Katelyn (Gagnon) Lewis of Nashua, maternal grandmother, Joan Rogers of Lehigh Acres, FL., stepbrothers, stepsister and step aunts: Graham Baynes of Henniker, NH, Thomas Baynes of Wilmington, NC, Elizabeth “Liz” Baynes of Penacook, NH, Anne Hall of New London, NH, and Janet Benzie of Ascot, England. Jordan is also remembered by several close friends, Matt, Samantha, Crystal and the Grover family. Jordan will be remembered as a compassionate, loyal and dedicated family member, friend and veteran who continually looked for opportunities to help and serve others. Jordan loved all things military, the outdoors, driving the lawn tractor and helping his mom at the barn. Jordan was greatly loved, will be sorely missed and will never be forgotten.
After cremation, an hour of visitation was held Friday, June 2, 2017 from 10 to 11 am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road Londonderry. A Celebration of Jordan’s life followed at 11:00 am in the funeral home. A 1:30 pm burial of his cremated remains with Military Honors concluded services at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 D.W. Highway, Boscawen, NH.
