Helen Prohodsky, age 97, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Wingate at Norton.
Born in Chelsea, MA on July 28, 1919, she was a loving and devoted daughter of the late Nicholas and Olga (Nekrashevich) Prohodsky.
Helen grew up in Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield schools and was a 1937 graduate of Mansfield High School. Prior to retiring in 1984, she had been employed for forty-three years as a clerical worker at Swank Inc. in Attleboro.
A member of the Mansfield Congregational Church, Helen enjoyed spending time with friends at the Mansfield Council on Aging and supporting town events. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, dancing and was an avid reader.
She was the dear sister of Michael Prohodsky of Kansas, Anna Prohodsky of Mansfield, and the late Mary Casey, Frank Prohodsky and Nina Collingwood. She is also survived by several generations of adoring nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, May 17th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, Helen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Memorial Fund of the Mansfield Congregational Church, 17 West St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
