FALL RIVER – Eduardo de Melo, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2017 at St. Anne’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in São Roque Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores, he was the beloved husband of Fernanda (Carreiro) de Melo and the son of the late Francisco & Alexandrina (Araujo) de Melo. Eduardo immigrated to the United States in 1970, settling in Fall River, MA, where he lived for 46 years.
Besides his loving Wife Fernanda, he is survived by his 3 daughters & 4 sons. Ana Rodrigues, Rose (Moniz) Sousa, husband Jose, Naomi Braga, husband Arthur all of Fall River, Duarte de Melo, wife Liontina of Fall River, Emanuel de Melo of Swansea, Samuel de Melo of Westport, Daniel de Melo, wife Geraldine of Fall River, & and the late Liliana de Melo; Siblings: Liliana Sousa of Ontario, Canada & Alvaro de Melo of Lynn, MA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Service in the Evangelical Church, 1240 Rodman St. Fall River at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
