Obituary

Mary Claire (Fahey) Burke, 83, of Natick, passed away peacefully at Framingham Metro West Medical Center with family at her side, on Monday, May 8, 2017, after a period of declining health. The daughter of the late Leroy G. and Norah E. (Dalton) Fahey, she was born in Natick, attended St. Patrick’s School, and graduated Natick High School and Framingham State College. Mary was a distinguished elementary teacher in the Natick Public Schools and a Reading specialist in the Marlborough and Natick Public School systems. Mary was also an active volunteer at the Natick Service Council. Mary moved to Keene N.H. in 2010, then to Brookdale Senior Living in Framingham in 2016. Mary was the devoted wife of the late Walter L. “Mickey” Burke for 46 years. She is survived by their children Walter L. Jr, and his wife, Mary Anne, of Greenwich, CT, Julia Richard and her husband, Christopher, of Phoenix, AZ, Thomas F. and his wife, Christine, of Kenne, NH; grandchildren Walter L. III, and his wife, Shannon, Michael, Kevin, Caitlin, Brian, Duncan, Vaughn, Colin, Alison, and her husband, Ben, and Jack; and great grandsons Eoghan, Avi and Audeep. In addition to many nieces and nephews, Mary leaves her brothers Leroy G. and his wife, Theresa, Fahey of Westford and James P. and his wife, Dorothy, of Newport News, VA. Mary is predeceased by her brothers Vincent D. and his wife, Phyllis, and Richard D. and his wife, Elizabeth Fahey. She was the sister-in-law of the late John, Edward and his wife, Irene, Bernadette, William, Robert and his wife, Marilyn, Jean Burke and Mary Burke Graham. She is survived by her brother-in-law George Graham of Englewood, FL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Monday, May 15, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common will be on Sunday, May 14, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Mary’s unending selflessness, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Natick Service Council, 2 Webster Street, Natick, MA 01760.
