Obituary

NATICK: Agnes Claire Fortier, known to many as “Nana,” 97, a former longtime Natick resident, passed away on May 3, 2017. She was born on August 5, 1919, in Dorchester to the late Arthur and Delia Hubbard. She was raised in Massachusetts and lived in Natick prior to residing in Melbourne Beach for the last four years.

Agnes enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, and listening to her favorite singer, Daniel O’Donnell. She was an avid Red Sox fan whose favorite player was Dustin Pedroia. She had great love and devotion to her family and cherished time spent with them.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, George H. Fortier, whom she married upon his return from service in WWII as a medic for four years; as well as her five siblings, Carl, Tom, Franny, Marion, and Joe; son-in-law Charlie; and daughter-in-law, Kathy.

Agnes is survived by her loving children; Diane Baldner (Sam), Tom Fortier (Claire), Don Fortier (Colleen), Joe Fortier (Lori), and Laurie Flutie (Doug); 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a large loving extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Friday, May 12th at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, 4 – 8PM in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, Park Street at Natick Common.

Agnes had a special bond with her grandson, Dougie Flutie,Jr., and asked that memorial contributions be sent to his Foundation for Autism (www.flutiefoundation.org) 1001 Worcester Road, 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
