Alton B. Korsvik, age 96, entered into rest on April 28, 2017 at Tranquility Manor in Kennewick. He was born on September 4, 1920, in Galchutt, North Dakota to George H. and Serena (Halgunseth) Korsvik. Alton’s grandparents emigrated from Norway to North Dakota in 1875 through homestead rights. In 1909, Àlton’s family made their home in Prosser. Alton attended Prosser schools, and then was drafted into the Army. He was in the National Guard for one year, as a Corporal, and four years in the Army, as a Sergeant. He was a very proud World War II Veteran.

After the war, he met Jacqueline Kleinow and the couple married on September 14, 1947, in Prosser. To this union they had four children.

Alton worked at White Bluffs, Hanford, for eight years, in the parts and equipment department. He also worked at the Chev garage in Prosser. Later, he worked for Taylor Auto Parts in Richland, eventually buying the business in 1973. He retired in 1988. Both Alton and Jackie worked there together.

Alton enjoyed volunteering with his wife and sister at the Benton County Historical Museum in Prosser. He was a Ham Radio operator. He taught mechanics at CBC. He enjoyed the many trips he and Jackie made to the Washington and Oregon Coast.

Alton is survived by his four children, Ron (Stephanie) Korsvik, Terry (Sharon) Korsvik, Karen (Tony) Ingalsbe, Todd Korsvik (Laura); 10 grandchildren and 28 Greatgrandchildren; his sister, Harriet (Ed) Burnet; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Andrew (Bud) and Devon Schab, Leonard and Betty Blaak and Bob Kleinow. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jackie; brothers, Arthur and Joe; and sisters, Genevieve, Georgina, June and Marilyn.

A special thanks to all the staff at Tranquility Manor in Kennewick, Sun Terrace in Prosser and Heartlinks Hospice for all their love and care.
