SUTTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE: Dr. Edwin M. Kenrick, Chiropractor, passed away at his home in Sutton, NH on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the age of 81.
Ed is predeceased by his son, Eddie Kenrick, his father and mother, Edwin and Hazel (Fraser) Kenrick, his nephews, Frank Kenrick, Todd Kenrick and Glenn Kenrick as well as his sister in laws Karen Fowler and Ann Kenrick.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Kay Fowler Kenrick of 55 years. They both grew up in North Reading and were married on March 23, 1962. They moved to Framingham and lived there for 42 years before taking up permanent residence at their second home in Sutton, NH. They have spent the last 15 years splitting their time between Sutton, NH and Palm Beach, FL.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his daughter Susan Kenrick Murphy of Natick, his grandchildren Andrew Collinson of Brighton, Brooke Collison of Natick and Kellianne Murphy of Natick, his brothers Frank Kenrick of North Reading and Bert Kenrick of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Brother and Sister in laws Ray and Marcia Sherbourne of Holden and Bill and Maxine Fowler of Northwood, NH, his nieces and nephews Bert Kenrick, Jerry and Heather Sherbourne, Ray Allen and Carlene Sherbourne, David and Angie Ordung, Matt and Harmony Fowler and Rob and Jasmine Fowler, many great nieces and nephews as well as his close cousin Edwin “Tinker” and Betsy Fowler.
Ed was born in Everett on March 28, 1936. He graduated from Medford High School in 1954 and served 2 years in the United States Army’s 10th division. Upon return and honorable discharge, Ed attended the Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Indiana where he graduated in 1961. He began the Downtown Chiropractic office in Framingham in 1963 upon succeeding Dr. Hagstrom who began there in 1929. He was instrumental in the legalization of Chiropractic care in Massachusetts. He grew his practice at this same location for 42 years before his retirement. He was a charter member of the Massachusetts Chiropractic Society and past president of the Worcester County Chiropractic Society. He served two terms as president of the American Chiropractic Association; the first person to serve two terms. Dr. Kenrick was chosen as the American Chiropractor of the Year in 1988.
He spent ten years as the State Delegate to the ACA, nine years on the Board of Trustees for the foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research, and served on the Board of Trustees at New York Chiropractic College for twelve years, having served as its chairman 1993-1996. Dr. Kenrick was also admitted in four states; Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Florida, and Arizona.
Ed was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed many years of snowmobiling with his family and friends around his home in Sutton, NH, he enjoyed golfing and he took up croquet later in his life enjoying the courts and competition at the National Croquet Center of W. Palm Beach, FL. Ed was an avid reader and puzzler and enjoyed many years of traveling with his wife and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10:00am to 11:30am at John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland followed by a funeral home service where prayers will be offered by Ed’s nephew Father Jerry Sherbourne, US Army Chaplain.
Burial to follow at Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham where Ed will be laid to rest beside his son Eddie.
