MURPHY, Edward F. Of Needham and Cotuit, passed away peacefully May 1. Beloved husband of Mary Kathleen (Larson) Murphy for 60 years. Devoted father of Edward F. Murphy Jr. and his wife Lisa of Richmond, VA, Patricia L. Murphy of Waltham, Lawrence P. Murphy and his wife Simone of Fullinsdorf, Switzerland, Brian J. Murphy and his wife Heidi of Littleton, MA. Loving grandfather of Alison, Ryan, Connor, Caroline, Alicia, Patrick, Michele and Kevin. Great grandfather of Sloane, Brody, Daniel and Brandon.
Ed met the love of his life Kathleen while serving in the US Army stationed in San Francisco. He had a progressively successful career in accounting, covering public accounting, teaching at several colleges including Bentley and Stonehill, as well as serving as controller for a number of businesses. Education was paramount to Ed's success over the years and he emphasized its importance to his children by pursuing both a Bachelors Degree and MBA at night. He had a passion for tennis and sailing which he shared with his children, grandchildren and friends. He loved spending time at his home in Cotuit and always felt most at home there. He was well travelled and enjoyed spending time in Europe with his wife.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave, NEEDHAM, Friday at 10 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Josephs Church Needham at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
