4/30/2017

Marie (Coviello) Burke, of Peabody, formerly of Medford, passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 30th at the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She was seventy-four.

Born in Somerville, she was raised in Medford and was the daughter of the late John and Madelyn (DeAngelis) Coviello. Marie attended local schools and graduated from Medford High School with the class of 1960. In 1978, Marie moved to Peabody where she has made her home for the last thirty-nine years.

Marie worked as an administrative assistant for the Spaulding Rehab in Boston. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed traveling with her friends. Marie was an explorer and loved to see new places, experience different cultures and meet new people.

A loving, caring and compassionate individual, Marie was a wonderful friend and fun to be with. She loved children and decided to take up a position as a nanny, for which she worked for thirteen years. The two children she cared for were like the grandchildren she never had. One of her greatest joys was talking with the children and listening to their views of the world. She cared very much about guiding and helping them grow.

A lover of the arts, Marie enjoyed the theater especially musicals. She enjoyed them so much that she took a position as an usher at the Wang Theater for a number of years. Marie was also a Jazz fan. She loved Frank Sinatra and her favorite song was "Unforgettable".

Marie was the devoted mother of Kevin Burke of Malden and Paul Burke of Everett. She was the loving aunt of Kristen Coviello of New Bedford and Lisa Hollander of Wareham. Marie was the dear friend of Frances DeAngelis of Charlestown, Pat Mattie and her husband Michael of Malden. She was predeceased by her siblings John and Stephen Coviello.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Tuesday, May 9th at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
