Germaine M. (Blanchette) Levesque

CHICOPEE – Germaine M. (Blanchette) Levesque, 96, of the Fairview section of Chicopee and formerly of the Pine Point section of Springfield, was called safely home on Thursday, April 27, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Fall River, MA on November 3, 1920, a beloved daughter of the late Louis and Marie Louise (Lacroix) Blanchette. She lived in Fall River and moved to Springfield in 1946 where she lived for 53 years on Pine Grove Street in the Pine Point section with her beloved husband, Louis, since 1951. She attended beauty school and was a beautician at Steiger’s Department Store in Springfield. Germaine was an outstanding seamstress and was employed at local clothing manufacturers as well as for her family and church. She was a member of the Pioneer Valley Camping Club Chapter 8 in Granby and the Pine Point Senior Center in Springfield. She was a woman of great faith throughout her entire life. She was a former communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Springfield where she was a prominent member of the Women’s Guild and very active with the Church Bazaar. She was currently a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Above all, she loved spending time with her loving family and her many dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Louis J. Levesque who was called home on October 24, 2003. They were married on May 1, 1944 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Fall River and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. She leaves her five loving daughters, Maureen L. O’Sullivan Nareau and her husband, Wayne Nareau, of Springfield, Deborah F. Clinton and her husband, Tom, of Niskayuna, NY, Donna M. McArdle of Springfield, Theresa A. “Terry” Levesque of Chicopee and Janice M. McArdle and her husband, Tom, of Granby; her six cherished grandchildren, Colleen Burque, Kathleen Dominguez and her husband, William, Daniel O’Sullivan, Jr. and his wife, Kyeong, and Melissa, Siobhan and Sinead McArdle; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Ryan Burque, Daniel O’Sullivan, III, Nicole Dominguez and Brenden Dominguez; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Levesque and Blanchette families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear son-in-law, Daniel O’Sullivan who was called home on July 26, 2001; her three dear brothers, Albert, Wilfrid “Fritz” and Raymond Blanchette; and her six dear sisters, Bertha Croteau, Irene Braney, Alice Grandmont, Gabrielle Quade, Theresa St. Amand and Jeanne Duclos. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, May 3, 2017 at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located at the rear of the funeral home.
