MULVEY, Rosemary “Rose” (Manning) of Weymouth, passed away on April 25, 2017 at South Shore Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 69. She was born in Boston’s South End on November 6, 1947, the daughter of the late Edward F. Manning and Irene E. (Doran) Manning. Rose graduated from St. John the Baptist Elementary School in Quincy and Bishop Neuman High School in Williamsville, NY. Rose dedicated her life to caring for her co-workers, relatives and animals. She worked as a dedicated Boston Police Department Principal Clerk for captains and superintendents. She raised two sons, cared for her mother during a prolonged illness, and supported her dear brother Edward. Rosemary enjoyed a cup of tea, a piece of cake, and a good laugh with friends and relatives. She was beloved by alumni, faculty and administration of St. Francis Xavier School in Weymouth. And Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood. Rose continued to volunteer as a St. Francis Librarian and in Xaverian’s Institutional Development Office after her sons had graduated. Rose lived her belief that every human, regardless of origins social status, or disabilities deserved respect and dignity. Rosemary was endlessly thoughtful and the world will not be the same without her daily gestures of loving affection. She simply made the world a kinder place. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Matthias J. Mulvey (USCGAUX 1NR Division 12 Commander), two sons, Patrick J. and Michael J. and his wife Mary Margaret Welch, and her grandson, Matthias, whom she loved. Throughout Rosemary’s illness, her sister-in-law Helen Mulvey Connors held her hand. Her two brothers, Joseph and Edward were present to say farewell to their loving sister. Rosemary’s siblings Eileen and Michael predeceased her. Rosemary’s family is grateful for the kind and loving care given to her by the doctors, nurses and staff at South Shore Hospital and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Monday, May 1st at 8:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius X Church, Milton, at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Blue Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rose’s memory to St. Francis Xavier School, 234 Pleasant St. South Weymouth, MA 02190.
