Obituary

Edward A. Varrecchia, 95, of Old County Road, Smithfield, died Friday in Cortland Place, Greenville. He was the husband of the late Irene (Sanford) Varrecchia.

Born in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Dominec and Angela (D’Agostino) Varrecchia. He had lived in Smithfield for many years previously.

He was a WWII Combat Army Veteran. After the war he served with the Army until his retirement. He was also a Music Teacher with the Little Compton School District, a world class Violinist and was a Building Inspector with the Town of Smithfield.

He leaves his cousin, Rudolph F. D’Agostino of Greenville, and many other cousins.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 11:30 am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Thursday 10:30-11:30 am. Burial with Military Honors will be in Acote’s Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
