Obituary

WORCESTER-Peter P. DiBara, 93, of Worcester passed away Saturday, April 22 at home.
His wife of 57 years, Gladys C. (Swett) DiBara died in 2003. He leaves three children, Paul M. and his wife, Janet J. DiBara of Scituate, Barbara L. and her husband, Niron L. Conrad of Paxton and Diane D. and her husband, William T. Collins of Dennis; four grandchildren, Stephen, Jennifer, Shelly and Paul; six great-grandchildren, Emilia, Vanessa, Celia, Simon, Benjamin and Katherine; a brother, Anthony DiBara of E. Brookfield and a sister, Dolly Laurence of Worcester and nieces and nephews. A sister, Mildred and two brothers Charles and Pasquale predeceased him. He was born in Shrewsbury, son of Matteo and Mary (Iannoli) DiBara. Peter was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a Sonarman Third Class on the USS Haraden 585 Destroyer and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for services in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.
Peter was a master mechanic and co-owner, with his brother, Pasquale of the Flying A Service Station on Greenwood Street with his brother for ten years. He then went on to become a route salesman for Millbrook and Wise Distributors and a mechanic for several Worcester area car dealerships. Peter was a member of the North American Martyr’s Church and enjoyed golfing and gardening. He liked going to flea markets and yard sales and was a great collector of all things.
A Visiting Hour will be held Wednesday, April 26 from 9:30 to 10:30AM in Lindquist~Lundin Funeral Home, 36 Butler St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11AM in the North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, 01605.
