WESTON: Phyllis Chapin Lamere, 85, of Weston, Massachusetts, formerly of Wayland, Massachusetts, died on Thursday April 20, 2017 after a long battle with multiple myeloma.
Phyllis was born on April 29, 1931 in Northampton, Massachusetts and raised in Easthampton, Massachusetts. She was a descendant of two Mayflower passengers and of Deacon Samuel Chapin, a founder of Springfield, Massachusetts. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Phyllis was devoted to her family and was kind and gentle with everyone she met.
She worked as a secretary at a shoe factory in Easthampton after graduating from high school
and later volunteered at the Community United Methodist Church in Wayland, Massachusetts.
She worked in the offices of the Sears and Roebuck Company in Natick, Massachusetts for
many years before joining the administrative staff of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in
Concord, Massachusetts. Later, Phyllis volunteered in the Weston Public Schools as a reading
helper. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and attending countless sporting
events, plays and concerts for her children and grandchildren.
Married for 67 years, she leaves her husband, Alfred, 86 of Weston, sons David, of Weston and Vernon of Bolton, Massachusetts, along with their wives Laura and Gail. She also leaves
brother in law Bob Cater of Nashua, New Hampshire as well as grandchildren: Philip Lamere
and Mireya Ho, Allison and Alex Carbo, Edward Lamere and Alicia Specht, Danny Lamere,
Justin Lamere, and Erika Lamere. Phyllis also leaves niece Susan Cater and Miriam Dunn;
Becky Parsons; Sally and John Conant; and Cal Parsons.
Visiting hours are on Monday April 24, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Wayland.
The Funeral Service is on Tuesday April 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church 5 Damon St (corner of Rte. 27 and Damon Street), Wayland with burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland immediately following.
