Obituary

Mr. Anthony L., “Tass” Tassinari, a longtime resident of Medford, passed away in Boston on Wednesday afternoon, April 19, 2017. He was 86 years old.
Born in Charlestown, MA on July 3, 1930, he was the beloved father of Elaine Tassinari and Valerie Tassinari, both of Medford and Ronald Tassinari of Malden.
Anthony graduated from Charlestown High School and attended Northeastern University studying Electrical Engineering. Mr. Tassinari worked as an Electrical Engineer for the same company his entire career, Newton Engineering and continued on when they were acquired by Astex. Both companies greatly relied on Anthony’s engineering expertise.
Mr. Tassinari served his country as a Korean war, Army veteran, entering the military at Boston on December 31, 1953 and receiving his honorable discharge from Ft. Knox, Kentucky on November 30, 1961. While serving in the military he attained the rank of PFC.
An ocean and marine enthusiast, Tass was a respected and contributing, senior member of the Riverside Yacht Club for more than 43 years. He loved spending time on the ocean, helping other members and traveling around New England. Tass was also an avid sports and wildlife enthusiast. He was a talented artist, spoke fluent Italian and greatly enjoyed listening to opera.
Tass is predeceased by his parents Joseph Tassinari of Boston and Teresa (Torlai) Tassinari of Lucca, Italy, as well as his sister, Sister Rita of the Order of Religious Teachers Filippini of New Jersey. Tass is survived by his three loving children and former spouse, Mary A. Tassinari of Medford, and siblings, brother, Amadeo Tassinari and his wife Rose of Malden; sister, Anna Tassinari of Somerville; brother, Robert and his wife Agnes of Somerville; sister, Sister Rose of Ohio, Religious Teachers Filippini, St. Anthony of Padua Parish; brother, John and his wife Camille of Everett; brother, Raphael of New Hampshire and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at 12 noon. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Monday, April 24, 2017, from 4 - 8 p.m. Interment will be privately held.
