Laraine C. “Rainy” Cataldo, of Medford, passed away on Sunday, April 16th at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 70.

Born in Malden, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lucy (Piccirilli) Cataldo. Rainy attended Medford High School and graduated with the class of 1964. She furthered her education and graduated from Bentley University. After college Rainy took her first job with Ernst & Ernst where she received her professional training, she later moved on to work for herself, handling the bookkeeping for various local businesses. Though Rainy enjoyed working for herself, she missed the corporate world and joined the staff at Mass Capital, from where she recently retired. In her retirement, she kept busy by continuing work for Toyota.

In her spare time, Rainy loved to be on her boat, for which she never named, but always referred to it as Sea Ray, the manufacturer of the boat. She loved being on the water and traveling to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. Both were places that she could go to for peace and solitude. She also loved to play golf and watch the news. Rainy watched all the local stations, but liked CNN the most. Her family and friends will always remember her watching the news during the 2016 election. Rainy enjoyed cooking, especially with wine, and occasionally she would add it to the food.

Rainy was the dear sister of Francis "Willie" Cataldo and his wife Deborah of Stoneham, Barbara Cataldo of Peabody and the late Ralph Cataldo. She was the loving aunt of Nancy D'Andrea and her husband Carmine of Revere, Janet Marchessault and her husband Jerry of Chelmsford, Renee Cataldo and her fiance Todd Goodwin of North Andover, Gina Cataldo and her partner Louis Coiro of Stoneham, Nicole Catherwood and her husband Rob of Billerica. She was the loving great aunt of Tina, Ashley, Michelle, Jessica, David, Michael, Mikalyn, Nathan, Kaylee, Caden, Lucas, Alessia, and the late Sydney. Rainy is also survived by her caring aunt Lena DiGiantommaso.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Friday, April 21st at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 through 8PM. Services will conclude with interment at Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
