NATICK: Grace (Jensen) Stenquist, 89, died peacefully at her Natick residence surrounded by her family on April 13, 2017 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on March 9, 1928 the daughter of the late Harbo Jensen and Inga (Andersen) Jensen.
Grace is survived by her loving children; Beth E. Therrien of Natick and Dana E. Stenquist and his wife Lloyd Stenquist of Hudson. Cherished grandmother of Sean M. Therrien of Natick and his fiancé Jodi Pettingill of Stoneham, Derek S. Stenquist, M.D. of Boston, Nicole J. Stenquist of Hudson and Jake C. Stenquist of Hudson. Great-grandmother of Sophie Grace Therrien. Sister of May Anderson of Bourne and Harbo Jensen of Novarto, CA. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Grace was the beloved wife of the late Sven Bertil Stenquist who died on August 22, 1980.
Grace has been a resident of Natick for the last 64 years and spent her formative years in Newton. She was a graduate of Newton South High School. In her earlier years, she began a career in banking beginning at West Newton Savings Bank. She retired after a long career as a loan officer with Middlesex Savings Bank. Upon her retirement from banking, she was associated with Samer Aleid, DDS of Natick for many years.
She was a longtime member of Community United Methodist Church in Cochituate serving as a church treasurer for several years and she enjoyed the coffee group at the church. For many years, she volunteered in the Natick School system in the library at Memorial School and spent countless hours at the school reading to the kindergarten children.
Grace was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and always enjoyed time spent with them.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon Street (corner of Rte. 27 and Damon St), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Stenquist family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate Village, Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Grace’s memory be sent to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Street, Boston, MA 02130.
