John J. Kearney

John J. Kearney, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2017 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland.
John was a longtime resident of Bellmore, New York and Simsbury, CT, before retiring to Cape Cod and Sarasota, Florida.
He was born in Haverhill on January 15, 1922 the son of the late Dr. John J. and Elizabeth (Beaucage) Kearney.
He was predeceased by his sister Mary (Kearney) Sharpe and his son David Kearney. John is survived by his beloved wife Regina “Jean” (Schoen) Kearney whom he shared 66 lovely years of marriage; his son, John Kearney and his wife Elaine of Needham; his four daughters, Anne Williams and her husband Kevin of Framingham; Kathleen Le Blanc and her husband Robert of Westport; Sara Nunziata and her husband Peter of Framingham; and Regina LoSardo and her husband William of Garden City, New York; and David’s widow, Kathleen Lindgren of Pawtucket, RI; plus his seven grandchildren Jacqueline, John and Patrick Kearney, Catherine and Christopher Nunziata, and Mathew and Daniel LoSardo.
John was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and he served in the United States Army during World War II. Soon after receiving an Honorable Discharge John became a Special Agent in the FBI. He had a distinguished twenty-five year career in the FBI, where he became a Squad Leader of one-hundred Agents in the New York City office. Upon retiring from the FBI, John went on to work for Exxon and Wells Fargo.
In retirement John and Jean liked to travel. They enjoyed their Cape Cod home where they created and cultivated their beautiful gardens. Their yard was featured as part of the annual East Orleans Garden Tour. John especially looked forward to the Holidays knowing his large family would be together. He was an avid tennis player well into his later years. John also enjoyed a lively debate. He remained active with the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, with local politics, and with his church.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main St (Rte. 27), Wayland. Friends and family are welcomed to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Matthew25 charity in Worcester, MA, which builds and maintains homes for underprivileged families. Their website is www.matt25.org.
