Wharry, nee Parsons
The Last of Her Family
Born Jan. 1921 in Deer River, MN. Preceded in death by parents Elizabeth & Laurence Parsons; foster parents Betty & Henry Raddohl; siblings Carl, Edna, Claude, Merle, Vernon, Hazel, Kenneth, Alma & Fredrick; husbands William F. Wharry Jr. & James Gilbertson. Survived by only child, Becky Sue Wharry McCoy; grandsons Scott T. (Darcy), Brett S. (Jodi); great grandson Jeffrey McCoy; nephews Robert, Raymond & Donald Parsons, all of the Twin Cities; many other nieces & nephews outside of MN. After her mothers death, Marion grew up on farms in the Montevideo area & moved to the St. Paul area in her late teens. She enlisted in the Army & served in the W.A.C.S. stationed in Mobile, AL, where she met & married her 1st husband Bill Wharry. After being discharged from the Army, they moved to Baltimore, MD where they lived near family. They moved back to MN in 1949 & lived in St. Paul & then Roseville in 1960 where they lived until Bill's death in 1978. Planning to retire in Alexandria, MN, Marion lived there until she met & married Jim Gilbertson in 1983. They lived in Alex until 1991 when they moved to Edgewater, FL & lived there until Jim's death in 2003. Returning to MN to be near family, she lived in White Bear Lake until her death. In 1969 Marion studied & became one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was an active member of the New Brighton, Alexandria & White Bear Lake Congregations, as well as the Edgewater Congregation in FL. Her ashes will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery where she will await her Lord's call to the resurrection hope as Jesus Christ promised in holy scripture as recorded in John 5:28,29. Sleep in peace, Mom.
