Alice D. (Manseau) Houle

CHICOPEE – Alice D. (Manseau) Houle, 94, a longtime resident of Providence Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, April 8, 2017. She was born in Easthampton on February 13, 1923, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur J. and Exelia (Garre) Manseau. She was raised in Easthampton, graduated from Easthampton High School and moved to Holyoke in 1947. She moved to Aldenville in 1954 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a well known crossing guard for over 42 years in Aldenville for the Chicopee School Department and in 2008 received a citation from the city for her many years of service. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and a former member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. Above all, she was a loving and understanding wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Armand J. Houle who was Called Home on October 1, 1984. They were married on May 31, 1947 at Notre Dame Church in Easthampton and were blessed with over 37 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving sons, Donald A. Houle of Chicopee and Gerard O. Houle and his wife, Mary, of Southampton; her four cherished grandchildren, Donald Houle and his wife, Allison, Matthew Houle and his wife, Denise, Katie Houle and Mary Alyce Howes and her husband, Andrew; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Cooper, Mollie and Mackenzie Houle; and her many nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Irene, Leo, Eva and Omer. Her family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning, April 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours.
