Allan J. MacEachern

Allan J. MacEachern, a longtime Woburn resident passed away unexpectedly at the Winchester Hospital, April 1, 2017. He was 82 years of age. Allan was the beloved husband of Barbara E. (Murphy) and together they shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Allan and Anna (MacDonald) MacEachern.

Allan was raised and educated in Quincy. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran and honorably served during the Korean War. Allan worked as Program Manager with the Itek Corporation where he oversaw many different developments throughout the years, including the Viking Probe to Mars which bears his signature. He retired following a 40 year career. Mostly devoted to his family, Allan enjoyed traveling up and down the east coast, spending time in Eastham, especially during the fall months. He was an active parishioner of St. Barbara Church and avid Boston sports fan. Always up to date on current events he loved history and politics. However one of his greatest joys was his grandchildren whom he adored and cherished spending time with.

Along with his beloved wife Barbara, He is lovingly survived by his children, Barbara Ann MacEachern of Somerville, Allan MacEachern Jr. and his wife Hawley of Hull, Glenn MacEachern and his wife Ashling of West Medford, Scott MacEachern and his wife Meredith of Somerville. He was the loving Grampy and Re to Fionnbhar, Tadhg, Oisin, Rory and Elliot Grace MacEachern. Brother of Anne Marie Vallier of Marshfield and John MacEachern and his wife Cynthia of Green Acres, FL. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN Wednesday, April 5th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with Military Honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Allan's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
