ASHLAND: Ronald E. “Ron” Mercuri, 72, died peacefully and comfortably with his fiancé Irene M. (Gennaro) McDaniel and his loving extended family by his side on Thursday, March 30, 2017 following a brief illness of several months.
He was born in Lawrence the son of the late Robert E. Mercuri, Sr. and Ann (Milius) Mercuri.
Ron is survived by his loving and caring fiancé, Irene M. (Gennaro) McDaniel of Ashland. He was a very special “Dad” to Michelle McDaniel of Woonsocket, RI and Michael and Kelly McDaniel of Holliston. Cherished “Grandfather” of Jarred Cournoyer of Millville and Audrey and Anna McDaniel of Holliston. Also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and his loving extended Gennaro family. Brother of the late Robert F. Mercuri, Jr. who died on February 10, 2002.
Ron spent his formative years in Cambridge and Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Prior to his retirement, he was associated for over 30 years as a Systems Engineer with General Dynamics. He loved country music, watching football, playing cards and especially the time spent with Marie and Nick Gennaro in New Hampshire. Ron loved to be with friends and family and all the special times shared with them. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherin Church, 99 Main Street (Rte. 27), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Interment will follow in the Gennaro – McDaniel family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate Village, Wayland.
In lieu of flowers, his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Ron’s memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
