Hilda S. (Dupont) Young, age 97, of Plympton, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank M. Young, to whom she was wed for thirty-seven years at the time of his death on July 5, 2011.
Born in Tiverton, RI on March 15, 1920, she was a loving daughter of the late John and Maria (Oliveira) Ponte.
Hilda was educated in Fall River schools. She had made her home in Plympton for the past forty-three years and was a former forty year resident of Fall River.
A dedicated homemaker, Mrs. Young attended the Plympton Congregational Church. She especially loved spending time with family, gardening and gourmet cooking. She made the best pastries in the world and was proud of her exceptional writing skills.
She was the devoted mother of James Synnott of Jupiter, Florida and the late Alan Synnott, Sr. She was the cherished grandmother of Alan Synnott, Jr., Rene Synnott Booth, Christopher Synnott and Jennifer Synnott Lax. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her longtime friend Patricia Gill. She was the dear sister of the late Edith Parsons, Mary Ferreira, Georgianna Ponte, Alice Mello, Amelia Gonsalves, George Ponte John Ponte, Manuel Ponte and Edmund Ponte.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Monday, April 3rd at 1:00 P.M. at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield. Visiting hours are omitted.
