Obituary

Roger N. Leveille, 82, formerly of Greenville Manor, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the home of his daughter in South Carolina.

Born in Esmond, he was a son of the late Raphael and E. Irene (Schenck) Leveille. Though he resided in Port Charlotte, FL, for 10 years during retirement, he was a lifelong resident of Smithfield.

He worked as a pressman for Quebecor Federated Lithographers in Providence for 31 years. He was a member of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department in the 1950s and served on the Reserve Smithfield Police from 1970 to 1974. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Quarter Master 3rd Class during the Korean War.

Roger was a Life Member of the Smithfield Elk’s Lodge, a member of Providence Labor Union 12N, and held Honorary Life Membership at GCIU #239N.

There was hardly a sport he didn’t enjoy watching, but no team was closer to his heart than his beloved Red Sox. He enjoyed rounds of golf when he was able and discovered a love for sea kayaking during the many summers spent at Fort Getty Campground. Roger cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren, as well as his extended family at gatherings throughout the years.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Murphy and her husband Richard of No. Scituate, Diane Kmett and her husband Robert of Little River, SC, David Leveille and his wife Lisa, Michael Leveille and his wife Melissa, Michele Brown and her husband Lloyd, all of Smithfield, his brother Richard Leveille of Smithfield, 9 beloved grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers Laurence Leveille and Norman Leveille, former wife Judith Enos, and half-siblings Edward, Albert, Eugene, Lodia, Therese, Alphonse, Leo, Raymond, and Ernest Leveille.

His funeral will be Thursday at 8:30am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, Greenville. Burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation Wednesday 4-7 p.m.
