CHICOPEE – Robert L. “Bob” Bissonnette, 86, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 12, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on August 20, 1930, the son of the late Charles H. and Cecilia (Blais) Bissonnette. He was a Navy veteran and served aboard the U.S.S. Tarawa Aircraft Carrier. He was a member of the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 and a communicant of Saint Anne Church, both in Chicopee. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. He leaves his three beloved sisters, Pauline Sagan of Chicopee, Lorraine Rezzani of Westfield and Aline Beaulieu of Belchertown; his brother-in-law, Eugene J. Bernier, Sr. of Chicopee; and his beloved niece and caregiver, Susan Donafrio and her husband, Leonard, of Chicopee. He also leaves several nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. His funeral will be held on Friday morning, March 17, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, March 17, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located at the rear of the funeral home.
