Charlotte F. (Mish) Murawski

CHICOPEE – Charlotte F. (Mish) Murawski, 91, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on June 28, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Francis J. and Barbara B. (Owsiak) Murawski. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated in 1943 from Chicopee High School and moved to Fairview in 1953. She began working at the former Fisk Tire and Rubber Company in Chicopee Falls. She later worked at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Holyoke. Her last career spanned over 22 years as a Librarian for the Chicopee Public Library. She was the Assistant Librarian at the Fairview Branch, the Head Librarian at the Aldenville Branch and before retiring, was an Assistant Librarian in the Reference Department at the Main Library in Market Square in Chicopee. She was a member of the Western Mass Library Association, the Polish Junior League of Western Mass, and the Polish American Citizens Club in South Hadley. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph M. Murawski who was Called Home on September 14, 1998. They were married on February 3, 1951 at Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Willimansett and were blessed with over 47 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving sons, James F. Murawski and his wife, Patricia and John J. Murawski and his wife, Gail, all of Chicopee; her three cherished grandsons, Kevin Murawski, Michael Murawski and Kurt Murawski; her brother-in-law, Leo Murawski of Southampton; her dear niece, Barbara Wisniowski of Chicopee; her nephew, Frank Rollis; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Murawski and Mish families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two dear sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen Rollis and her husband, Anthony and Viola Piechowski and her husband, Joseph. Her family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Charlotte’s devoted caregiver, Yam. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, March 15, 2017 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
