CHICOPEE – Donald E. “Donnie” Blain, 72, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 4, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born at Providence Hospital in Holyoke on March 13, 1944, a beloved son of the late Raymond L. and Lauretta M. (Page) Blain. He was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and lived in Aldenville until 1986 when he moved to the Willimansett section of Chicopee. He was employed at Piels Brewery in Willimansett and had last worked at the Milton Bradley Company in East Longmeadow. Donnie was a plain guy and enjoyed spending time with the Klee Crew at the Buffalo Club in Fairview talking about sports. He enjoyed talking with his friends, Danny and Farmer, on the telephone and also enjoyed going to the casinos and his many trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with his friends Bruce, Sully, Johnny and Bobby. He has gone to join his good friends who have left us, especially Steve and some of his card playing friends at the Elks. He was an avid Red Sox fan and disliked the Patriots because he always said “Peyton Manning is still the best”. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of nearly 35 years, Diane (Peloquin) Blain; his loving daughter, Kimberly Claine and her husband, John, of Greenfield; his two cherished granddaughters whom he adored, Nikki and Michelle Claine; his three loving siblings, Richard R. Blain and his wife, Judith, of Springfield, Rose A. Migliore and her husband, Bill, of Vero Beach, FL and Jerry R. Blain and his wife, Robyn, of Belchertown; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Blain and Peloquin families. His family would like to thank Dr. Nimbalkar, Dr. Krulewicz and the nurses and staff at Baystate Medical Center, especially Lizzie, Laurie and Lisa, for the wonderful care and comfort that they provided to Donnie. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday morning, March 11, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
