Obituary

Michele R “Mike” Bissanti, 76 of North Providence, died Wednesday, March 1st 2017. He was the devoted husband of Carol “Palazzo” Bissanti. They had been married for 51 years. Besides his wife he is survived by his dear sons, Michael Bissanti and his wife Renu of Belmont Ma and Christopher Bissanti of North Providence and his two beloved grandsons, Forrest and Mason.

Born in Woonsocket he was the son of Louis and Hilda (Fischesser) Bissanti. Mike had served in the US Army and US Navy and placed in commission the USS Providence. He was a member of the first graduate class of CCRI.

An avid sailor and fisherman, he recently built his own trawler, the most unique boat in Newport Harbor. He spent much of his time in Newport and vacationed at his home in Venice, Fl.

He was the proprietor of Century Painting along with his brother Louie, M.R. Bissanti & Sons Builders, and the Sub Contractor Restaurant in Warwick. “He was an ordinary man who made an extraordinary difference in people’s lives.” He helped those he loved and strangers in need. All who knew him had a “Mike story.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation will be held Monday, March 6, 2017 from 4 – 7 pm in the Anderson – Winfield Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be private.
