CONNELL, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Andrew Francis P.A., Archdiocesan Director Emeritus of the Propagation of the Faith; of Marshfield, formerly of Newton and West Roxbury passed away on February 13, 2017.
Graduate of St. John’s Seminary, April 11, 1951. Former curate at St. George’s Parish, Saxonville, Framingham. He was then assigned to the Propagation of the Faith, a pontifical mission society, by his Eminence Richard Cardinal Cushing. He was known around the world as “the man with the golden heart” for his great love and devotion to “the missions”.
Beloved son of the late Atty. Andrew F. Connell and Edwina M. (Goff) Connell. Devoted brother of the late Agnes Colpoys and her late husband Dr. Francis Colpoys. Loving uncle of Dr. Mary Edwina Colpoys of Watertown, Francis Colpoys of Scituate and Andrew Francis Colpoys of Quincy. Great uncle of Kathleen and John Colpoys. Dear friend of Mary Margaret Bolles of Lakeville.
Msgr. Connell will lie in state in St. Theresa of Avila Chapel, West Roxbury on Sunday, February, 19th from 4-7pm. A concelebrated Funeral Mass will be offered, Monday, February 20th at 10am in St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury. His Eminence Sean Cardinal O’Malley, Archbishop of Boston, will be the principal celebrant. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
