Obituary

Andrew “Andy” Diamond, age 92, a resident of Yarmouth Port for 20 years, formerly of Natick and Sudbury, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on February 12, 2017.

Andrew was born on December 15, 1924 in Detroit, MI to Peter and Irene (Raptis) Diamond who had immigrated from Sparta and Kalavrita, Greece to Detroit, Michigan. He had four siblings who lived in Detroit and Grosse Pointe most of their lives. He served in World War II, attended Denison University in Ohio and graduated from the University of Michigan’s School of Engineering. Mr. Diamond went on to work for Burroughs Corporation before founding his own company, Data Concepts, Inc., a forerunner of insurance industry computer software.

Andrew enjoyed opera and was a dedicated fan of his Michigan Wolverines and New England Patriots! An avid fisherman, woodworker and craftsman, his favorite activities also revolved around building life sized creations from tree houses to tardises and carousels for his three granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine (Christy) Diamond and his dearest daughters, Christiana Diamond of Washington, DC and Elizabeth and caring son-in-law, Richard Weeks of Marlborough, loving granddaughters, Kathryn, Christy and Kimberley. Andrew is also survived by his brother Charles Diamond and predeceased by his brothers James Diamond (Margaret), George Diamond (Sophie) and sister Mary Jatros (Art) and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Monday, February 20 at 10:00 A.M. at the Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown Street, Weston, MA with a Funeral service immediately following at 11:00 A.M.

Interment will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA in private on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown Street, Weston, MA, 02493 in Mr. Diamond’s memory.
