Obituary

NATICK: Eleanor M. King, a longtime Natick resident, died peacefully on Sunday morning, February 12, 2017, at Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham, her home for the past five years. She was one week shy of her 94th birthday.

Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Margaret (Welch) Driscoll. Eleanor was raised and educated in Boston, and in 1944 married Kenneth K. King while he was on leave from the Navy. She remained in Boston for the duration of the war.

The Kings lived in Dorchester prior to settling in Natick in 1962. Eleanor created a warm and loving home for her family, often referring to it as her little “corner of the world.” A proficient baker, she enjoyed travel, particularly visiting her eldest son’s family in Ohio, and a trip she made with family to Hawaii. She looked forward to jaunts to Foxwoods, and could often be found in the company of her sister or granddaughter, whether out for a day of shopping or relaxing at home.

Predeceased by Kenneth in 1998, she was the loving mother of Kenneth King of Ohio and his late wife Terry, Robert King of Natick, and late James King; and mother-in-law of Marilyn King of Ashland. Devoted grandmother of Robert Brasco, Kenneth King and his wife Melissa, Julie Rutherford and her husband Michael, Sharon Remsen and her husband Chris, and the late Robbie King; and great-grandmother of Andrew, Chase, Nora, Kyle, and Natalie. Beloved sister of Marie Caldaroni of Hopkinton and the late Francis Driscoll. She is also survived by many much-loved nieces and nephews in Texas and Ohio; and nieces Jean Niland and Judy Carr with whom she had a very close relationship.

Her funeral service will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Saturday, February 18th at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends may visit with the family beginning at 9:00AM. Burial will follow in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Donations may be made in Eleanor’s memory to the Countryside Nursing Home Residents’ Activities Fund, 153 Winter St, Framingham, MA 01702.
