Richard I. Kay, 91

Richard I. Kay, age 91, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Wingate at Norton. He was the beloved husband of Marylyn G. “Molly” (Treen) Kay, to whom he was wed for sixty-three years.

Born in Central Falls, RI on December 31, 1925, he was a loving son of the late Edgar and Emma (Watson) Kay.

Dick grew up in Pawtucket and was a 1944 graduate of West Senior High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during WWII and later attended photography school in Connecticut.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Kay worked as a salesman for over thirty years in the Providence office of Automobile Legal Association. He also worked part time as a wedding photographer for the former Camera Shop in downtown Attleboro.

He had made his home in Norton for the past sixty years, and his hobbies included photography, reading and aviation.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters Melissa G. Weir and her husband John of England and Deborah A. Kay of Attleboro. He was the adoring grandfather of Strahan Weir of England. He was the dear brother of the late Nelson Kay. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Anita Chilson of Attleboro, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend graveside services on Tuesday, April 11th at 11:00 A.M.at the Woodlawn Cemetery, North Main St., Attleboro.

Visiting hours have been omitted and those wishing may remember Richard with a donation in his memory made to the Norton Public Library, 68 East Main St., Norton, MA 02766.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St., Norton.
