CHICOPEE - Thomas J. Halpin, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 9, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born in Natick on November 14, 1921 to Thomas and Frances (Belger) Halpin. He was raised in Natick and graduated from Natick High School. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII on Guadalcanal and continued his service in the United States Air Force. He served in Europe and various locations in the United States, retiring from Westover AFB with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1963 after 26 years of service. Tom and Marguerite were married at St. Paul’s Church in Wellesley, MA on January 28, 1951 and recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. A communicant of Saint Anne Church, Tom served as lector and senior altar server and was a longtime volunteer at the Knights of Columbus. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Marguerite, and their children, Thomas and his wife Maureen, Kathleen and her husband Alan, Michael and his wife Deborah, Patrick and his wife Lisa, and Christine and her husband Scott. He also leaves his four loving grandchildren, MacKenzie and her husband Benjamin, Marisa, Jeffrey, and Heather and her husband Joseph; two great grandchildren, Lucia and Nicola; his brother-in-law, Carl; his sister-in-law, Artie; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his four dear sisters. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at a later date.
