Janet Katharine "JK" Ward passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in Water Valley, MS. JK was born in Union City, TN to James Morris and Bernice Janet "Jan" Doublin Ward, and graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law. JK was a city judge in the town of Tutwiler early in her career, and later was elected as Prosecuting Attorney for Yalobusha County. She was a lively community icon who enjoyed reading, fishing, and traveling. She visited Israel twice among her many travels. JK was a sports fan, especially of football. She was an active and devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church of Water Valley.
Visitation is planned for Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 12 noon until 2 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with services to follow at 2 PM in the Henry Chapel. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery near Water Valley. JK is survived by her parents, Jim and Jan Ward of Water Valley, MS; her uncle, Jere Don Ward (Martha) of Irving, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one aunt and two uncles. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1938 County Road 220, Water Valley, MS 38965. | ||||
