David E. Naismith, 70

David E. Naismith, age 70, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 27, 2017, surrounded by his adoring family at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Audrey L. (Walker) Naismith, to whom he was wed for the past 46 years.
Born in Attleboro, MA on April 20, 1946, he was a loving son of the late Elmer R. and Laurette M. (Levesque) Naismith. He grew up in Norton, was a1965 graduate of Norton High School and also attended the New England Institute of Technology in Rhode Island.
David proudly served his country as a member of the Military Police in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany and was a recipient of the Soldiers Medal for saving a persons life in an act of heroism. He was honorably discharged on October 6, 1968.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Naismith worked in the maintenance department at the Wrentham Outlets. He had previously been employed for the Norton School Department and also as an oil burner technician.
Along with his family, David attended St. Mary’s Church in Norton. His favorite times by far were those spent with his family, which included family vacations and especially spoiling his granddaughters. He was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed sitting down to a good home cooked meal with family and friends alike.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted daughters Kerri L Naismith-Rothman and her husband Matthew of Plainville and Koren L. Marsolais and her husband Richard of Norton. He was the cherished ”Papa” of Olivia, Abbie and Kai. He was the dear brother-in-law of Maureen Walker and her spouse Ann Eubank of Kentucky, and is also survived by 1 niece, 2 nephews and several cousins.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 1st at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial with military honors will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 31st from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
