Obituary

NATICK: Leonard A. Chiacchia, age 91, passed away on January 7, 2017 at Mary Ann Morse Nursing Home in Natick. The son of the late Patrick and Nora (Gibbons) Chiacchia, Len was born in Natick and lived here his entire life. He was a graduate of Natick High School and attended the Burdett School of Business. He served his country in the Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946.

Len, along with his late wife Catherine, was a faithful communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Natick. He was a Hockey Coach for the Natick Comets for many years and enjoyed watching his sons and all the boys play hockey. He was a passionate fan of the Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots and Natick Redman. His greatest enjoyment was jazz. He was an expert in traditional and Dixieland jazz history and knew the names of all the great early black jazz bands and musicians.

Len was the devoted husband of Catherine for 67 years. He was the loving father of his children Michael Chiacchia and his partner Ellen Stallings of New Mexico, Donna Gonzalez-Velasco and her husband Enrique, Leonard Chiacchia, Jr. and his wife Lucy, Stephen Chiacchia and his wife Joanne and Denise Chiacchia and her husband Andy Dauman. He had 17 grand and great grandchildren and was predeceased by his brothers Richard and Donald.

Visiting hours will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common on Friday, January 13th from 9:00AM until 10:30AM with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
